UPDATE PERU 馃嚨馃嚜

The Peruvian government was the first country in Latin America to take drastic measures to fight the virus. It has put the health of their citizens prior to anything with the economy: lives can't be recovered, the economy can be reactivated.

Timeline

06 MAR: First covid-19 case
11 MAR: (17 cases) Schools are suspended. Travelers from Asia and Europe must isolate for 14 days
12 MAR: All flights from Europe and Asia are suspended for 30 days. Universities are suspended. No event over 300 people allowed.
13 MAR: (38 cases)
14 MAR: President asks everyone to stay home and not to attend any reunion
15 MAR: (71 cases) National State of Emergency declared for 15 days. Full quarantine, allowed only to exit for food, medicine, bank. Army and police patrol the streets.
16 MAR: All borders and airports are closed, no transport allowed between the regions.
17 MAR: No private cars allowed to circulate. Curfew from 8pm-5am, arrested if caught in the street.
18 MAR: The Panamerican Games village is turned into a hospital dedicated only to the virus patients (6000 beds). A newly inaugurated hospital is dedicated solely to ICU cases.
26 MAR: The quarantine is extended until Easter.
27 MAR: (635 cases) This is an extremely hard situation to manage in a poor developing country that has a poor healthcare system. The majority of the country is informal (80% of the economy) that don't pay taxes.

I will do another update around Easter.
